How SKU Manager works

SKU Manager works alongside Shopify to make SKU updates faster and easier, especially when you manage many products or variants. You use SKU Manager to review and update SKU and barcode values in bulk, while Shopify continues to manage your store's core product data.

What SKU Manager updates

SKU Manager is designed for one job: helping you manage variant identifiers more efficiently.

  • SKUs: Update variant SKUs more quickly than editing them one by one in Shopify.
  • Barcodes: Change barcode values for variants when needed.
When you save SKU or barcode changes in SKU Manager, those changes are sent to your Shopify store so your product data stays up to date.

What stays in Shopify

Shopify remains the main place where your store's product information is managed. SKU Manager does not replace Shopify's product admin.

  • Products and variants: Product setup, variant setup, and overall catalog structure stay in Shopify.
  • Inventory: Inventory quantities and inventory tracking remain managed in Shopify.
  • Product details: Titles, images, options, pricing, and other product information continue to be controlled in Shopify.
SKU Manager only changes SKU and barcode values. It does not make broader product or inventory changes.

When to resync

If you make product changes directly in Shopify or another app, SKU Manager may still show older details until you resync. This can include information such as product titles, images, or variant labels.

A resync is helpful when you want SKU Manager to reflect recent catalog updates so the app shows the latest product information.

If you have made many product changes outside SKU Manager, running a resync is a good way to refresh the app and keep what you see in SKU Manager aligned with Shopify.
